2026 MCDFNL Football Round 5 Preview — Avoca vs Campbells Creek
Avoca return to home soil this week to play Campbells Creek in what shapes as one of the more intriguing match-ups of the round.

Just two weeks ago, the Bulldogs produced a gutsy display to defeat Maldon by a single point at Avoca Public Reserve, a performance built on resilience and composure under pressure.
However, that momentum was halted last round with a heavy 120-point loss to Harcourt. The Bulldogs were outplayed from the outset and struggled to contain the Lions’ scoring power, highlighting the inconsistency that has plagued their season so far.
The challenge for Avoca now is clear — rediscover the intensity and structure that brought them success against Maldon and produce it across four quarters.
Campbells Creek come into the clash after a competitive loss to Lexton, where they showed strong fight after an early deficit. Their ability to work back into the contest and apply pressure will give them confidence, and they will see this as a genuine opportunity to claim an elusive win.
The Creekers’ forward line looks a key strength, with Jesse Presser leading the way alongside James Haber and Ben Sutherland, all of whom are capable of hitting the scoreboard and creating problems for opposition defences.
Avoca will need strong contributions from leaders like Alex Riches and Keenan McLinden to ensure quality supply going forward, while Campbells Creek will look to bring the same contested intensity that allowed them to challenge Lexton last week.
