2026 MCDFNL Football Round 5 Preview — Harcourt v Navarre
Two of the competition’s in-form sides go head-to-head this week as Navarre host Harcourt in what looms as one of the games of the round.
Navarre come into the clash in ominous form following their dominant win over Maldon. The Grasshoppers were relentless from the outset, piling on 10 goals in a devastating second quarter to blow the game apart.
Their midfield, led by Sam Walker and Will Moloney, controlled the contest, while their forward line proved both potent and unpredictable.
Riley Bibby continues to be a major threat inside 50, while Jack Mentha and Sam Rickard provide strong support, giving Navarre multiple avenues to goal.
Harcourt, however, will be just as confident. The Lions made a statement earlier in the season with a commanding win over Talbot, highlighted by a seven-goal third quarter and a defensive effort that restricted their opposition.
They followed that up with a crushing 120-point victory over Avoca, underlining their scoring power and ability to dominate across all lines.
Jack Threlfall has been a focal point up forward, well supported by Mitchell McKnight and a host of contributors, while players like Mark Noonan and Braydon Vaz provide drive through the midfield. Defensively, Harcourt have also shown they can lock games down when in control.
The key battle will be in the midfield, where both sides have shown the ability to take control of games. Navarre’s clearance work and Harcourt’s run and carry will likely dictate the flow of the match.
