After their round one hiccup against Carisbrook, Trentham have flexed their premiership muscle with striking displays against Newstead and Natte Bealiba.

Off-season pickups Dylan Holden, Cody Young and Jye Adamson have been in excellent form alongside Joel Cowan, who’s been a one-man wrecking ball in midfield to start the season.

Club legend Jake Keogh has also been an early standout, currently leading Trentham with 10 goals in three matches.

After making use of a noticeable scoring wind with six unanswered goals in the first quarter, the Saints’ defence limited the Swans to 44 points even without the services of defensive general Taylor Ford.

Their upcoming battle against the reigning premiers will be a vital gauge for a Giants team that’s seen its encouraging start to 2026 hamstrung by several hurtful lapses.

One of those lapses came in the second quarter against Carisbrook last weekend, outscored 46-6 to somewhat spoil what was mostly a competitive performance led by Cody Wright, Sam Spink and Scott Miller.

Kaylab Eggers was another bright spot in his first game back in the senior squad, while young guns Mitch Stork, Riley Govan and Atticus Cullinan have displayed their significant improvement.

In their three meetings with the Giants, the Saints have come out victorious by an average margin of 89 points, including a 133-point drubbing in round 17 last season powered by a dozen goals from James Regan.
