2026 MCDFNL Football Round 6 Preview — Talbot v Avoca
Talbot return home this weekend looking to build momentum, while Avoca face another enormous challenge after a heartbreaking loss to Campbells Creek.

The Hawks bounced back strongly last round with a crushing 108-point victory over Lexton, reminding the competition of their scoring power and overall class. Ethan Brock was unstoppable up forward with nine goals, while Jarrod Stephens added four in a dominant attacking display.
Talbot’s midfield also looked back to its best, with Aaron Collicoat, Victor Micallef and Jude McGuire driving the ball forward repeatedly and giving their dangerous forwards plenty of opportunities.
Avoca, meanwhile, are coming off a frustrating six-point defeat to Campbells Creek in what was one of the stories of the season. The Bulldogs fought hard late and nearly stole the game in the dying moments, but ultimately fell short as the Creekers celebrated their first win since 2022.
The Bulldogs have shown throughout the season they are capable of competing in patches. Their thrilling one-point victory over Maldon proved that, but inconsistency continues to hurt them. Against stronger opposition, lapses in pressure and ball use have often been costly.
For Avoca to challenge Talbot, they will need to limit the Hawks’ forward supply and tighten up defensively. Containing Brock after his nine-goal haul looms as a major task, while the Bulldogs will also need strong performances from experienced players like Alex Riches and Keenan McLinden.
