2026 MCDFNL Netball Round 6 Preview — Trentham vs Maldon
In one of the more intriguing contests on this weekend’s A grade docket, the Maldon Bombers travel to face the Trentham Saints.
After their 2025 campaigns ended in disappointment, Trentham and Maldon have showcased noticeable improvement this season, yet there’s an underlying feeling that both teams have the potential to achieve a higher level.
Case in point was their round five encounters with the Maryborough Giants and Carisbrook respectively, where they had strong moments but couldn’t maintain it for four quarters.
The Saints found themselves in a strenuous battle against the Giants on Saturday, looking to overcome a narrow four-goal quarter-time deficit after a standout opening term from Jessica Walker, Madelyne Brennan and Amy Vandenham.
However, an 18-7 second term placed the Saints permanently on the back foot, eventually succumbing to a 30-goal defeat.
Simultaneously at Bill Woodfull Reserve, substantial scoring flourishes from the potent Redbacks dampened some positive signs from the Bombers, exemplified by a 22-3 second quarter.
Maldon has certainly been more competitive compared to their winless campaign last season, a point they illustrated in the first and third quarters versus Carisbrook. Yet the Bombers will be determined to turn those passages into a more complete performance.
