Maryborough Antique Bottle Club member and event organiser Steve Greenwood said this weekend’s event is expected to be huge, with displays already sold out.

“It’s probably going to be our second biggest show. Right at the last moment, we became booked out,” he said.

“We have over 100 entries in the main show, and we have got over 250 meters of swap and sell.”

Mr Greenwood said those attending will be able to see an extensive variety of rare artifacts.

“There will be a piece of Australian pottery, it’s a one and only piece. That’s rare and priceless,” he said.

Mr Greenwood said shows like this bring together numerous relics that tell stories of Australia’s history.

“You’re never going to see them again, they aren’t going to be made like this again. They’re parts of history. Each one has a prolific history,” he said.

Once again, there will be opportunities for swap and purchase of bottles, as well as a raffle and prizes.

“People continually come back to our show, because we are classed as the friendly show. We go around and talk to each person and make everyone happy. We produce a very good trophy, we have cash awards from our sponsors and there is good food,” Mr Greenwood said.

He expressed gratitude for the show’s sponsors and those who ensure the annual show continues.

“We want to thank our sponsors and we need to acknowledge and thank the Maryborough Harness Racing Club, they supply the caterers and space. Jason Tricky puts his heart and soul into the whole show. The way he sets it up makes it run smooth every time,” he said.

“A guy who is bringing the pottery, goes from nationals in the UK in June, the American nationals in July, and then on to our show. He said he won’t miss our show because it is the best in Australia.”

The event will be open from 9 am until 4 pm on Saturday, August 30 and 9 am to 3 pm on Sunday, August 31 at the Maryborough Harness Racing Club.

There is a five dollar entry on Saturday and a gold coin donation on the Sunday.
