Bendigo Bank’s local community bank are sponsoring young people to help them attend a youth leadership and business summit.

The Magic Moments Foundation is a non-profit organisation who supports young people to develop their skills.

Their Youth Leadership and Business Summit is a five-day opportunity designed to inspire, educate, and empower young people who are 14 to 17 years old.

This year’s event is being held around an hour away from Mary-borough at PGL Campaspe Downs for 250 young people from across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

It’s an all inclusive program meaning all accommodation, meals, and event materials are included in the ticket price.

That’s where the Community Bank Avoca, Maryborough and St Arnaud have stepped in offering sponsorships for local young people to attend the event.

The community bank’s executive officer Julie Driscoll said the program is usually based out of a large city making this year a unique opportunity for regional kids.

“Regional kids don’t get as many opportunities as what city kids do,” she said.

“You get the benefits of a city program in a regional place.”

Ms Driscoll said the event was like going on a camp where you’ll learn leadership skills in a fun and interactive way.

“It’s not just are you going to be a leader at your school, it could be your workplace, in your family, or in your broader community,” she said.

But what about young people who don’t want to be a leader?

“You’ll have more confidence to speak up, share your ideas with people, in whatever capacity you’re comfortable with,” she said.

The application process is straight forward, with only a handful of questions, and accessible to all kids no matter their ability.

“Step outside your comfort zone and see what it’s like,” Ms Driscoll said.

Those interested can apply by scanning the QR code with applications closing April 2.

The event will run from July 8 to 12 this year.

Speak to your school or contact your local community bank for more information.
