Central Goldfields Shire Council are reviewing concerns that works began at a Pavilion Farm broiler farm before they had the required planning approvals.

Council issued a stop work advice Friday, March 20, over concerns work had begun on a broiler farm at 705 Baringhup Road, Carisbrook, without the required planning approvals.

The site is planned to be the location of a broiler farm with six sheds and associated buildings that can cater for up to 400,000 birds.

While the applicant is the land owners, Hurse Land Pty Ltd, Pavilion Farms will be the organisation who runs the broiler farm.

While the planning application was approved by VCAT in October, their decision said that before any works or building could start further, plans had to be submitted to and approved by Central Goldfields Shire Council.

“Concerns were identified about works commencing prior to required planning approvals,” council said in a statement.

“The matter is under review in line with standard statutory processes.”

Earthworks appear to have begun at the site with activity involving machinery ongoing late Friday afternoon.

The contents of the stop work advice are not known.

Pavilion Farms owner Michael Vukadinovic was contacted for comment.

This broiler farm will be Pavilion Farms fourth in the area with Mr Vukadinovic having previously said he has plans for more.

A fifth broiler farm from the same operator was unanimously opposed by Central Goldfields Shire Council in March.
