Over the past 12 months, Fossickers has quickly become a regional hub for food, culture and connection.

The team have hosted curated dinners, four art exhibitions, a wedding of 150 guests, music performances, a Mother’s Day event and an art series lunch program, all while opening their doors every Friday to Sunday, with a menu of seasonal, locally inspired dishes.

To mark the milestone, Fossickers will host their first High Tea and History: Springtime event, featuring a selection of photographs from the Talbot Arts and Heritage Museum collection, highlighting the story of London House, the 1860s building that once served as a merchants store for the mining community and today is home to Fossickers and it’s art space, the Folk Experiment.

Guests are encouraged to contribute to the evolving display with their own memories of the building, which has seen many incarnations over the past century and a half.

Co-owner Felicity Martin said she has been “blown away” by the community’s response in the past year.

“We opened our doors in spring 2024, and have been blown away by the support for our local community, and the many visitors who’ve discovered us, whether by chance, or through our growing social media presence,” she said.

The eatery’s menu has evolved since opening, but its philosophy has stayed the same, to champion seasonal produce from local farmers and makers.

While their shop front is open from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, Fossickers also rent the venue for birthdays and special events, delivering specially curated menus to suit various budgets and styles of celebration.

Located at 42 Scandinavian Cresent, Talbot, the business will be celebrating its first birthday on Friday, September 19 from 2 pm.

Tickets are $65 per person, which will include a spread of food, teas, coffee, as well as cocktails, wine and beer at bar prices.
