Funded by the Avoca District Co-operative Limited, the grant program is made possible through the Bendigo Bank branches it manages in Avoca, Maryborough and St Arnaud.

As a social enterprise, the co-operative reinvests the majority of its profits into the community, supporting local projects and initiatives.

The program is also assisted by the Community Enterprise Foundation, which helps facilitate funding and administration.

It aims to provide financial support to organisations working to make a positive impact in the region.

Assistant branch manager Aley Earl said these grants are made possible thanks to the banking support of our customers.

“Together, we have contributed over $2.6 millions back into our communities, funding important local projects and initiatives,” he said.

Executive officer Julie Driscoll welcomed eager community groups who wish to apply.

“We’d love to see as many local groups as possible benefit from this funding. We highly recommend giving us a call to chat about your application. It’s the best way to check your eligibility, make sure you’ve got the right documents and tips before you apply,” she said.

Previous recipients have included Maryborough Theatre Company who received $15,000, Maryborough and District Horse and Pony Club who were awarded $5000, and Maryborough Volunteer Resource Group who received $4431 in the recent round.

Community groups are advised to start planning their applications now to allow enough time to organise letters of support, quotes and permits.

Guidelines, criteria and applications are available online at communitybankavocamaryborough.smartygrants.com.au.

For support, those interested can contact Julie Driscoll at secretary@avocacoop.com.au or can call 0411 234 800.

The round for applications will open from Monday, September 1.
