Harcourt flexes offensive muscle against Avoca
Harcourt delivered a dominant four-quarter performance on Saturday, defeating Avoca by 120 points at Harcourt Recreation Reserve.
The Lions set the tone early, kicking six goals in the opening term while restricting the Bulldogs to just a single behind. Their slick ball movement and strength around the contest saw them open up a 38-point lead at quarter time.
Avoca showed some resistance in the second quarter, adding two goals, but Harcourt continued to apply scoreboard pressure with another five goals to extend the margin to 60 points at the main break.
The third quarter proved decisive, with the Lions taking complete control. Their midfield dominance and efficient forward entries resulted in seven goals for the term, stretching the lead to 91 points at the final change.
To their credit, Avoca showed fight in the final quarter, kicking three goals. However, Harcourt’s class and depth shone through as they added another seven goals to cap off a commanding win.
Jack Threlfall continued his sensational start to the 2026 season, booting seven goals in another game-changing performance.
Jed Rodda also had a goal fever with six majors, while Braydon Vaz, Taylar McKnight, Mark Noonan and Thomas Walters were also highly influential in the victory.
Avoca found it difficult to generate consistent scoring opportunities, particularly in the absence of key forward Nathan Coghlan, whose presence was sorely missed.
Byron Wynd, Jordan Thomas, Brodie Quinlan, Bryce Howell, Darcy Carey and Nathan Holland battled hard and were among the Bulldogs’ better performers.
