The event will commence with a parade down High Street and finish on Coronation Park where the community is invited to join in a range of family friendly activities including live music and even a jumping castle.

Advertised as a “salute to volunteer first responders”, co-organiser Sophie Tribe said the wholesome event is another way to support local volunteer fire fighters by contributing to an enormous amount of funds they currently need.

“We are hoping the community will gather in High Street and give a big wave as they drive past, and will come down to Coronation Park for a barbecue,” she said.

“We are having a fundraiser down there to raise money for our local fire brigade and SES. We are the only rural region that does not have a command vehicle, so all proceeds from this fundraiser will go straight back to the fire brigades to hopefully get some money towards it.”

FCV are fundamental in support-ing fire brigades, particularly during strike team deployment.

Unlike any normal Ford Ranger, these cars are fitted with radios, computers and incident manage-ment utilities, but can cost up to $100,000.

If the Goldfields group obtain the vehicle, its usage would be shared among all brigades.

Other emergency services including paramedics will be present with marquees set up for community members to network, show their support or register their interest in joining attending organisations.

There will also be musical per-formances by Reworkt and David Green providing entertainment on the day.

“We are hoping it will be, obviously a family event, we are going to have some kids activities there,” Ms Tribe said.

“We are just obviously wanting to raise some funds and have the space where you can just have a chat to your local brigade members and support them.

“We call them our local heroes because at the end of the day, they are the people giving up their time, and unfortunately sometimes their life, to keep us safe.”

The Carisbrook Lions Club and Maryborough Rotary Club will provide a barbecue and catering.

The event will run from 11 am to 3 pm this Sunday, March 29.
