Locals participate in reverse triathlon
The Maryborough & District Triathlon Club conducted its second event of its 2025/26 Club Championship season from the Maryborough Sports & Leisure Centre on Sunday, September 14 in pleasant conditions for triathlon.
The event was a reverse triathlon, with a long course (2 km run, 8 km ride, and 400 m swim), and short course (1.5 km run, 4 km ride, and 200 m swim).
In the Open Male long course it was an entertaining competition between Josh Britten and Cooper Mark for the first two legs of the event until an unfortunate tyre puncture brought Britten’s performance to an early finish.
The puncture came just as Britten was lifting his speed in the later stages of the cycle leg.
Mark continued on with his cycle and swim legs to post the winning time of 36:12.
In the 50+ Female long course category, it was Hawaii bound triathlete Jane Anderson who utilised the event as part of her preparations for the Ironman World Championship in Kona later this year.
Anderson touched the finish line in 42:58 to win this category.
The 50+ Male short course was won by Martin Mark in the competitive time of 27:26.
The next event on the 2025/26 Club Calendar will be a Long Course Triathlon from the Maryborough Sports & Leisure Centre on Sunday October 12, 2025.
Course distances will be long course (400 m swim, 20 km ride, and 4 km run), and short course (200 m swim, 4 km ride, and 1.5 km run).
