RACV agency set to close
Maryborough’s RACV retail agency will be closing down at the end of this month, although many services will remain.
RACV’s local retail agency, which offers in-person services including payments and policy sales, will be closing from September 30.
Many locals insured through the provider received a letter earlier this month announcing the decision.
“We understand this change may affect the way you purchase or renew products with RACV,” the letter read.
Following the closure members can make payments at the post office, by calling 13 72 28, using the RACV app, or visiting the nearest agencies in Ballarat or Bendigo.
It’s understood other RACV services at Maffescioni Motors, including breakdown and accident towing alongside accident repair, won’t be affected by the closure.
RACV general manager member engagement Marita Pollard said the change acknow-ledged a shift in need for members.
“After consideration to the changing needs of our members and our business, RACV has decided to end the agreement with our agent servicing the Maryborough area,” she said.
“RACV will continue to provide quality services at our retail outlet in Ballarat, as well as payment facilities at Australia Post offices across Victoria.”
Its a sentiment Ms Pollard has said before ahead of another regional closure this year, their agency in Colac, as reported by the Colac Herald.
However, when asked if the announcements were a part of a broader trend of RACV agency closures in regional Victoria, Ms Pollard denied this.
“RACV remains committed to regional Victoria with 16 retail outlets across Victoria, including nine in regional areas and two agencies in Bairnsdale and Wangaratta,” she said.
“We are also committed to providing employment oppor-tunities for regional Victorians, which is demonstrated by our contact centre hubs which are operating in Sale, Geelong, Wodonga and Ballarat.”
