Support for primary producers on its way
Pyrenees Shire Council residents that are on farm rate as of July 1, 2025 will receive their 40 percent support payment, despite it not appearing on their 2025/26 rate notice.

Rate notices have been issued and should be received by ratepayers over the next week. These notices will not reflect the adjustment as Primary Producer Support Payment details are still being finalized between councils and the Victorian Government.
However, it will be applied as soon as possible, with Pyrenees Shire Council sending a further letter to relevant residents outlining their new rates balance.
The 40 percent support payment is for property rates only and does not include waste charges or the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF) charges.
On July 4, the Victorian Government announced eligible farmers in 12 drought-stricken areas, including Pyrenees, would receive a 40 percent support payment as part of its Drought Relief Package.
Pyrenees Shire Council CEO Jim Nolan asked residents to be patient while the support payment is implemented.
“We are currently working through the finer details of how the Primary Producer Support Payments will work at a logistical level with the Victorian Government but please be reassured the adjustment will be put in place as soon as possible,” he said.
