Writing anthology to launch in Clunes
Clunes Writers’ Group are excited to launch their latest annual anthology at the Clunes Booktown Festival this weekend.

The collection of local works range widely both in perspective and style from poems, to short stories, and even non-fiction.
Titled Aspects, the book’s pages are filled with examples of work created by almost 20 people over the last year.
More than an interesting read the anthology’s pages represent their many experiences and skill levels, all edited over hours.
It’s also the output of a long-standing community group that’s irreplaceable for many of its members.
Through their monthly meetings, members are given a regular opportunity to socialise and express themselves creatively.
Member Patsy Skinner said people grow so comfortable in the group they sometimes share personal experiences they’ve never put words to before.
“We’ve had times where someone has read a piece and they were tearing up because it was the first time they’ve spoken about the loss of someone they loved,” she said.
It’s a credit to the group’s goal to be as friendly and accessible as possible.
Clunes Writers’ Group’s Loise White described the group as “gentle” which helped her step outside her comfort zone.
“For me, even at my age, it’s good to do that,” she said.
“It’s not like giving a speech to a queen or anything.”
The book’s launch is this Saturday, March 21, between 12 and 1 pm, in Esmond Gallery at The Warehouse.
Attendees will be able to purchase a copy and hear from the book’s writers.
The launch is an official part of the Clunes Booktown Festival’s schedule, with free tickets available to book at the event’s website.
